Subaru STARLINK® Connected Services

One of our largest and most involved projects of the year, this series was created to help Subaru promote their STARLINK services across their website and YouTube channel. To do this, we moved production to Vancouver to capture a variety of beautiful locations within a relatively small area. We hired local crew and worked with the Vancouver and BC Parks film offices to achieve the scope of the project.

With many eyes in Subaru on this shoot, right to the very top of the marketing department, we strived to deliver the best work we could across all aspects of production. While it was a difficult shoot, we believe that we delivered on our promise of a high-level production at a fraction of typical agency prices.

After a lengthy post-production period, the folks at Subaru informed us that they are thrilled with the results of this series, and we feel proud of the work we were able to achieve. The 5 videos were delivered in English and French, and are currently posted to Subaru Canada’s YouTube channel, and the Subaru.ca website.

Bellator MMA

When Blackhawk Tires approached us to discuss content opportunities, we honed in on their sponsorship of Bellator MMA as an avenue to create some truly engaging video work. After several months of planning, we were granted exclusive behind-the-scenes access to a Bellator event to interview MMA legend Burt Watson and follow him during the week leading up to a Bellator fight.

Along the way, we also interview key figures at Bellator and profiled some of the staff working tirelessly to put on the live events. This project marked a significant departure from our usual brand of content, but we embraced the challenge and would love to expand into similar work in the future.

Utah Tourism

For this project, we worked with ATV.com editor Lucas Cooney to produce an exciting adventure video for Utah Tourism, promoting the stunning natural beauty and endless off-road trails that the state has to offer. The tourism board hooked us up with the folks at Ticaboo Lodge, which became our base of operations around the New Lake Powell area.

The trails out there provided some truly unbelievable vistas, and it was difficult to know what to shoot first. It was even more difficult to stop shooting, as every corner seemed to provide a better and better view. We used every tool at our disposal to capture our surroundings, but to get a true sense of what Utah has to offer, you simply have to see it for yourself!

Kia @ The 2023 Canadian Autoshow

In a change of pace for us, we were tasked with creating walkaround content for 3 of Kia’s new vehicles – all at an interior location, and all during the 2023 Canadian Auto Show.

Shooting exciting footage at an interior location is a challenge in and of itself, but we would also be contending with the crowds of journalists, workers, and onlookers during our shots. In the end, we negotiated a night shoot that allowed us to avoid the worst of the crowds, and then worked closely with the exhibition hall to allow us to film FPV drone footage of the Kia booth. We then hired a great bilingual host in Juliette Louie, and delivered 3 dynamic videos that showcase the Seltos, Niro EV, and the EV6 GT and all the best features they have to offer!

Subaru Outback & Outback Wilderness (2023 & 2024)

Subaru Canada tasked us with creating a dynamic walkaround video that combined the Outback and the more rugged Outback Wilderness into one concept. Through careful planning and creative execution, we reached the concept you see in the final product, showing two couples taking a fall weekend trip together – one taking the roads and one taking the path less travelled. Overall, the point wasn’t to show that one model was better than the other, but to show that both are excellent vehicles but cater to different needs and lifestyles.

Less than a year later, some significant updates were made to the Outback Wilderness trim, and so we were tasked with creating a new and improved summer edition of the video we had made previously. This time, our concept featured a father and son duo meeting up for an ATV and fishing trip. We shot this in our familiar stomping ground of Baysville, ON, and managed to pull off a tight, exciting walkaround that delivers on our promise of promoting both trim levels as great vehicles for your next adventure!

KIA Safety Awards – JD Power & IIHS

While we often hear of JD Power and IIHS awards, few of us tend to know how much credence to give to these awards, or even how they are awarded in the first place.

To address this, we teamed up with KIA to produce two explainer-style videos addressing the brand’s recent acclaim in the top safety categories at both of these prestigious awards. Hosted by automotive expert and event host Maggie Clark, and supported by infographics, the goal of these videos was to be informative for audiences and intenders alike. All while supporting KIA’s deserved status as an industry leader when it comes to safety.

Subaru WRX

In our latest team-up with Subaru, we created a video that incorporates the rich rally-cross history of the WRX in its latest iteration – the 2022 WRX. We crafted a simple story between a father and son, showing their bond grow through a full day of racing on track, road and dirt in the new model.

Striking a balance between features, story, and dynamic visuals, this was an action-packed shoot and a truly enjoyable experience to work with this vehicle.

2023 Toyota GR Corolla: Driving on Track and Dirt with Ken Gushi

Mere days after the worldwide reveal of the 2023 GR Corolla, we were given access to the car to shoot an exciting video for the AutoGuide and VerticalScope platforms. To create engaging content that went beyond a simple walkaround video, we hired Toyota Formula Drift driver Ken Gushi – known around the world for his racing prowess – to give our viewers tips for rally-style driving.

Filmed in Willow Springs International Raceway and the California desert, we pushed the GR Corolla to its limit and got some fantastic results in our footage. It was great to work with Ken and watch a true expert driver do his thing, and we believe that his expertise comes through in the final video.

Made in partnership with Toyota USA, we hope to produce much more content like this in future!

Busting 5 EV Myths with the 2023 Toyota bZ4x

Using the AutoGuide.com YouTube channel as our platform, we set out to create an editorial “list-style” breakdown of 5 common concerns about Electric Vehicles that are addressed by the 2023 bZ4x – the first in Toyota’s planned “bZ” electric lineup.

We travelled down to San Diego County in California to film with the vehicle, picking it up directly from its reveal event. We sourced local talent and crew, and worked with authorities to secure our key locations. Once complete, the video was promoted on AutoGuide.com and the VerticalScope automotive forum community.
